Through the CERT program, the Baltimore city Office of Emergency Management has teamed up with communities across the city in an effort to help all of our neighbors stay safe during a natural or manmade disaster and to promote disaster preparedness.
Disasters and Major Emergencies are occuring everwhere, everyday! Citizens, Families, Businesses and Communities in Baltimore are learning how to prepare, stay safe and how to help their communities! |

CERT Teams to help out with Census |
The Mayor has asked for our help in getting the word out about the census in your neighborhoods. This is a great opportunity to get the CERT “name” out there as well! You can call the number below to let them know your helping or just show up at one of the locations below at 9:30am. See you guys out there!

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake called on volunteers to encourage Baltimore City residents to mail in their Census form as part of Baltimore’s “March to the Mailbox” this Saturday, April 10, 2010. Next week is the last week for Baltimore City residents to return their Census form. The Mayor challenged all residents to help significantly increase the city’s mail-in participation rate. At 55 percent, Baltimore City’s mail-in participation rate is one of the lowest in the State.

CERT PREPAREDNESS OUTREACH DAY! |
Sunday, October 18th is CERT/Emergency Preparedness Outreach day! We will be meeting at the YMCA on 33rd St at 1:00pm in the Parking lot! The goal for this day is to outreach and help people in our community prepare for any emergency. We will distribute Flashlights, Radios, Magnets, Water Jugs, and Emergency Preparedness Pamphlets to all the teams. For a few hours, all the teams will distribute these essential items to vulnerable people in our communities. I know we can’t reach everyone, but this is a start!!
Please bring your CERT vests with you so we can be recognized! Can’t wait to see you there!!
P.S. Family and Friends are welcome to help or anyone else interested in preparing and helping our communities!

30 New CERT members complete Fire/Rescue Training! |
30 New CERT members completed the Fire/Rescue module of the CERT program this weekend. I want to thank everyone for a great training! I also want to welcome our members from our up and coming teams: Ray Baylor (West Baltimore Team), and Alfred Wainwright and Nancy Green from the (Wilson Park Team). Also, Linda Towe from the Westport Community Team!
